Hi friends and family!
We did it! At 3:30pm on July 13th, we reached the finish line of our 100-mile unicycle ride through Montreal. Our blog has pictures from the trail and stories about the ride, in case you missed it. We are so grateful to all of you for making "A Balancing Act" such a success. With your help, we were able to raise more than $25,000 for the CAI.
And it's never too late to donate! All of the funds raised for "A Balancing Act" go to support the Central Asia Institute (CAI), which has built nearly 80 schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan since its founding in 1996. The schools built by CAI are in keeping with Muslim traditions, but strive to offer a moderate and expanded alternative to the Islamic extremism taught in many of the madrasas. This is the real balancing act. We are inspired by the work of the CAI, especially by the emphasis it places on educating young girls, and are excited to be partners in this effort.
Feel free to explore our site, learn more about our trip and the CAI, and consider making a donation in support of "A Balancing Act." Greg Mortenson, author of Three Cups of Tea and the founder of CAI, sums up the importance of its mission: "You can drop bombs, hand out condoms, build roads, or put in electricity, but until the girls are educated, a society won't change." Thanks again for supporting this worthy cause
Getting ready for next year,
